Original Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair

This well-loved family chair came to us well used but a little bit worn, but with precious memories for its owners. This original egg chair by Arne Jacobsen is an iconic piece of furniture. It was however unusable as the fabric and underlying foam were needing restored.

We stripped the chair and renewed the foam. We were then faced with the problem of how to upholster a seat without a single flat surface with a piece of flat material. In liaison with the client, a beautiful piece of woollen fabric, not dissimilar in weight and feel to the original, but in a deep blue with hints of heather and aquamarine was chosen. This was then positioned on the chair and completely hand stitched to fit tightly in place.  The original cushion was recovered, again with a hand stitched cover.
