A Scottish Arts & Crafts Carver

This old Glasgow Arts & Crafts carver chair needed the drop in seat renewed and a thorough clean and repolish.

The wood was washed and a reviver applied. It was then traditionally polished and waxed for a satin smooth finish, making the arms very tactile.

The upholstery on the drop in seat was removed and new webbing and hessian added. The original horsehair was washed and re-used to create a comfortable seat. This layer was covered with cotton felt and calico with a final cover of beautiful hard-wearing antique Harris Tweed which had been kept for years to be used on the right piece.
